About Us

Through the efforts of volunteers, donations from local residents, and support from organizations including Green Bag Ridgefield, the Clark County Food Bank, COSTCO, and Rosauers Supermarkets, we provide food,clothing and household staples to needy residentsof Ridgefield, La Center, Felida and Salmon Creek.

In addition to weekly distributions of food baskets of shelf-stable food, fresh produce, frozen and refrigerated food, and bulk dry food products, and weekly distribution of household staples such as dishwashing soap, toilet paper,and paper towels, we also distribute holiday food boxes with turkeys, product and foods traditionally eaten during the holidays.

We are in need of financial donations to pay for the costs associated with providing food to our clients. There are also costs associated with maintaining the building. There are also costs associated with the maintenance of the lawn and driveways and ensuring people safe access to the facility.

We now have PayPal for easy donations from anyone willing and able to contribute to this needed community facility. You can also mail donations directly to the PO Box 789 Ridgefield, WA 98642. Any amount, no matter how small or large, is welcome. If you donate, you will receive a Tax-Deductible receipt in the mail.

Neighbors is run by a team of volunteers, usually 10 to 12 individuals weekly who come and give their time to serve these communities. It is overseen by a board of 13 with an executive board of 5.

By-Laws of Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Bank

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a Washington non-profit organization under IRS 501(c)(3) rules and was organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The purpose of this organization is to feed the hungry, help our neighbors, and assist them with needed hygiene and household products that may be essential to their well-being.
This organization will be overseen by a Board of Directors, including officers and Members at Large, who provide oversight for the work of the organization and also provide information to the public when requested. An effort will be made to include board members from local organizations that support the food bank to ensure broad oversight by a variety of Ridgefield residents and local businesses.
Election of officers will be held every two years at an annual meeting, electing an Executive team consisting of a Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, Secretary, Treasurer, and numerous Members at Large.
A board meeting will be scheduled every two months, with the Treasurer providing copies of financial statements, bank transactions, and an update of the forecast for the following six-month period. Decision-making will be a shared responsibility, and a two-thirds vote of those present is necessary for approval.
All board members will be associated with the food bank and will respond with compassion and sensitivity to the needs of all who come for assistance. All client names will be kept confidential. Neighbors will not be open unless at least two board members are in attendance on the day of food distribution.
The Executive Board will have the authority to make decisions involving financial amounts of $5,000 or less, or decisions requiring a quick response when it is not feasible to involve the entire board in a timely manner. In such cases, written notice will be sent to each board member within 10 days, if they have an active email account.
The Board will make every effort to obtain grants or donor-directed funds for staff salaries to ensure the continuation of the food bank. Salaries will be set based on available funds at the beginning of each calendar year by the Executive Board. Staff will consist of the Coordinator and possibly one additional person if funding is secured.
There will be an ongoing program to recruit donations to ensure the continued capability of the food bank, as well as an ongoing effort to recruit and train volunteers for succession planning and to support current volunteers.
Donations will be used for operating expenses, including maintaining the building and equipment (freezers, furnace, refrigerators, etc.), and for paying staff as determined by the board. Additional funds may be used to purchase needed food that has not been donated.
In the event of the dissolution of the organization, net assets are to be distributed among the churches that originally organized Neighbors Helping Neighbors, provided they are still operating.
